Automobiles in Germany's City Found Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Officers reported they were notified by a individual who noticed a automobile in Hanau covered with red-colored substance

Around fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.

Officers state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.

The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.

Officers then located many other vandalized cars and house walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials say preliminary tests show the substance was likely human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; officials are presently not aware of any harm in association with the occurrence," they added.

Local authorities said they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the community for details.

A high-ranking representative stated the vandalism left him without words and required to be solved quickly.

"This incident hits the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on social media, recalling the killing of nine people by a gunman aiming at residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
